Screen-Free Learning Games for Kids

There are so many different ways that you can help your children grow and learn! One of my favorite ways to teach my kiddos is through play and these learning games for kids punch the ticket!

The games on this list aren’t merely for entertainment, but also for learning various skills! From things like counting and basic math to spelling and strategizing, these games can help foster a love of learning in your child.

Bonus: playing games with your children really help nurture their bond with you!

Let’s get on to the games! I’ve tried to sort them by what age they are best suited for.


Learning Games for Kids

Sequence for Kids

Ages: 2-4

This strategy game helps develop logical thinking skills. Great for young children as you don’t have to know how to read to be able to play!

Learning Puzzles

Age: 4-7

These puzzles help teach a range of early reading skills including letter recognition, word formation and spelling!

Zingo

Ages: 4+

Develops critical skills – Perfect for pre-readers and early readers, builds language and matching skills in preschool kids through fun, fast-paced play

Candy Land

Ages: 3+

This classic game helps children match colors, take turns, and have fun!

Chutes and Ladders

Ages: 3+

Great for kids who are learning to count, this game encourages basic addition skills

Tiny Polka Dot

Ages: 3+

These cards and the several games you can play with them are great! From counting to number recognition to basic math! So many ways to play and learn with these!

Scrabble Jr.

Ages: 5+

This game grows with your learners! Scrabble Junior is letter-matching fun for your little one and players create their own words in the advanced level!

Noodle Knockout

Ages: 3-7

Fine motor, counting, and color skills. This game is so much fun for kiddos!

Alphabet Bingo

Ages: 3+

Use this fun game to help your kiddo with letter recognition!

Story Time Chess

Ages: 3 – 103

Teach children the game of chess with this story time chess game! Characters, stories, activities, and imagery help kids as young as 3 learn the moves, strategies, and language of chess.

Rapid Rumble

Ages: 6 – 99

Guess in 10

Ages: 6-99

There are so many of these fun guessing games from Skillmatics! Children have fun learning and guessing about the categories (ie. animals) while expanding skills in Communication, Decision Making, Problem Solving and Creative Thinking Skills

Charades for Kids!

Ages: 4 and up

I got this game for my kiddos for Christmas last year and they LOVED it! Cards have clues with pictures, making this easy for non-readers, but also reinforces early reading skills

Money Bags

Ages: 7+

 This game is a great way to teach your kiddos about money! Players collect, count, and exchange money all the way to the finish line!

Brain Quest

Ages: 5-6

There are different levels of this game for different ages! Brain Quest features hundreds of questions and answers to help kids know exactly what they need to know, when they need to know it.

Emotional Roller Coaster

Ages: 6-13

This fun, anger management game for kids of all ages helps children learn how to cope and calm down when angry.

Battle Ship

Ages: 6+

This strategy game for kids is the ultimate search-and-destroy mission. Great for teaching how to use a cartesian plane and understand how to use co-ordinates on a grid.

Headbanz

Ages: 5+

Kids will develop their deductive reasoning skills with the game’s simple question and answer method.

Clue Jr.

Ages: 5+

Playing Clue teaches deductive reasoning, which encourages critical thinking.

Life Jr.

Ages: 5+

This game promotes critical thinking skills such as: ability to analyze, clear communication, creativity, open-minded approach, and problem-solving skills.

Mancala

Ages: 8+

This game helps promote thinking, planning, strategy skills and logic building as students learn to recognize patterns

Catan Jr.

Ages: 6+

 This game helps you learn how to navigate the relational dynamics that are present among the players.

Ticket to Ride Jr.

Ages: 6+

This game helps teach some geography while practicing math and strategy skills

Monopoly Jr.

Ages: 5+

This game can teach so many things! From counting to how money and passive income works and more!

Sorry

Ages: 6+

This game includes counting, strategy, good sportsmanship and following and remembering special rules! Once I taught my 1st and 3rd grader how to play this they were able to play completely independently!

Sleeping Queens

Ages: 8+

This card game offers a fun way to learn addition and strategy!

Check the Fridge

Ages: 8+

Mixing and matching numbers to get the correct amount, this card game helps children with their addition up to 25!

World Map Puzzle

Ages: 6-12

Help children learn about the world with this fun map puzzle and 100 country cards with fun facts on them.

The World Game

Ages: 7+

Race around the world, pass famous landmarks and win. Train memory and brain while having fun and learning about some world geography.

Guess in 10

Ages: 7+

This card game is great for introducing children to world geography.

Learning Games for Kids

There are so many other great games out there but I really tried to narrow this list down to the games that my kiddos love and that they have learned something from! I hope you’ve found a game or two that could help your family learn!
