Montessori Toys and Manipulatives

We love incorporating Montessori toys and manipulatives in our home and our homeschool! It’s such a joy to watch the kids use their imagination while exploring and experimenting with Montessori style toys.

What is Montessori?

The Montessori method is based on self-directed activity, hands-on learning and collaborative play. The Montessori approach to teaching focuses on the education of the whole child including physical, emotional, mental, spiritual and social aspects of life. It is a child-centered environment where children are given freedom to choose work based on their developmental needs and interests.

What is a Montessori toy?

Montessori toys are toys usually made out of natural materials, (wood, metal, cotton, glass, etc.), that stimulates learning by encouraging kids to experiment. These toys help kids with different things like fine motor skills, music, art, practical life skills and more.

Here are some great Montessori style toys and manipulates! There are even some really great manipulatives that I use for my 3rd/4th grader!
